Priding itself as a locksmithing and security landmark, Joe Davis Locksmiths comes from humble beginnings indeed.Founded by Uncle Joe himself, the business was established way back in 1947 in the multi-cultural suburb called South End. Davis and his wife, Sadie, ran the business for many years, specialising in hardware , paint & other services such as the sharpening of all blades & sharp objects / tools. The business steadily grew with the introduction of Joe’s son , Leo , who immediately expanded the shop to include outside locksmithing to its existing in-house key-cutting service. Joe was proud to have first coined the phrase “KEYS CUT WHILE YOU WAIT” .

With Leo eventually taking over as director, he revolutionised and transformed the then hardware store to a recognisable & trust-worthy brand. Joe Davis Locksmiths continued to re-invent itself through Leo’s keen entrepreneurial skills to become one of the leading security stores in the Eastern Cape. Priding itself on having dedicated employees, cherry-picked on their expertise in the security field, the firm quickly got to boast itself with high-tech machinery & equipment to become a force to be reconned with. Amongst other services, Joe Davis Locksmiths became the leaders in key duplication and lock servicing / repair centres, high security key systems, access control tagging and remote controls, videocom technology, door automation, garage & driveway motors, electric locks, master key & keyed alike locks, magnetic locks and more.

They also became known as the “ safe specialists “ stocking almost every safe on the market from key , digital , spin-dial , combination pin-code, time delay units for business and home ( including SANS 953-1 approved handgun & rifle safes ). It’s large repertoire and stock of safes engraved its already big name in the business of safety. Their experienced & knowledgable sales staff are trained to give all their clients sound advice in order to provide the best security on the market , specific to the customer’s application & needs. Joe Davis Locksmiths expanded its operations to Newton Park in 2011 identifying the need to broaden its footprint recognising the city’s growth, with the intention of continuing to take care of its clients. Partner & co-director in the business, Greg Kahn , identified the need for further expansion in the business by securing another premises for Joe Davis Locksmiths to call home, boasting its 2^nd shop in the new CBD of Gqeberha.

With the constant rise of new business in the architectural & ironmongery lines, Joe Davis Locksmiths again increased its own potential to include a full-house showroom for prospective builders & developers – commercial and residential. Cutting edge security has flooded the security market and Joe Davis Locksmiths were not left behind, including advanced keyless locking systems such as biometric fingerprint readers and facial recognition units in access control. With the advancement in vehicle security, they also stayed abreast of transponder key technology by equipping both stores with key coding machines and diagnostic programmers to fulfil their client’s needs. Robotic machinery are all in the expertise of Joe Davis Locksmiths’ capability attracting all and sundry from far afield for their key cutting & cloning.
